At the heart of the Gallagher Group is Gallagher Aggregates Ltd, engaged in the mineral extraction industry and is now the only remaining company actively quarrying Kentish Ragstone.
Gallagher operates two quarries in Kent, supplying customers throughout the South East; Hermitage Quarry, close to Junction 5 of the M20 and Blaise Farm Quarry near to Junction 4 of the M20. Hermitage Quarry supplies over 70 different products including primary aggregates, recycled aggregates, HBM, ready mix concrete, flowing screeds, soils and block stone for new build and heritage projects. In addition, Hermitage Quarry operates an inert landfill site. Blaise Farm Quarry produces a suite of fills and roadstones.
Hermitage Quarry sits within the Hermitage Estate which includes a working farm with a premium quality beef herd and equine centre. Gallagher understands that it is only borrowing the land for quarrying, and has a progressive infill restoration policy which involves sections of the quarry being infilled with inert waste once the mineral has been removed. This land is then returned to a combination of agriculture, hedgerows and broadleaved woodland.
Our built society cannot function without the output from quarries and at Gallagher we are proud of the way in which we have managed to integrate Hermitage into the landscape and the local community. It provides a range of products to the local construction industry that would otherwise travel over huge distances either by road, rail or sea.
