We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven professional to work within the Gallagher surveying team with all commercial duties on numerous projects.
 

Candidates must:

  • Have excellent communication and negotiating skills.
  • Possess excellent IT and maths skills.
  • Be proficient in all MS Office (in particular Outlook, Word & Excel) and Bluebeam.
  • Have good financial management skills.
  • Have a good knowledge of construction methods and materials.
  • Be a friendly, self-starter and highly motivated individual that can work on their own initiative to tight time-frames as well as manage and develop the wider team.
  • Have at least ten years’ experience in Quantity Surveying.
  • Degree in quantity surveying/commercial management or equivalent.
  • Full UK driving licence required as candidate will be required to travel between office and visiting sites.
  • Believe in and uphold our company values.
  • Have proof of ‘Right to Work’ in the UK.

Job description

Reporting to the Commercial Director you will be responsible for the financial delivery of contracts, including the control of cost and cash, and ensuring they are procured and delivered within budget. You will be commercially driven and astute with a flair for building relationships with clients, contractors and within the operational team. Undertake and manage all commercial duties on numerous projects.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the commercial function on a day-to-day basis for your projects.
  • Deep understanding of the project’s contractual and commercial requirements including contractual compliance, knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts, quality and risk management.
  • Ensure external valuations are submitted in accordance with the conditions of the main contract and that payments are received by the due date, taking full responsibility for the contract’s cash position.
  • Manual costings of each project including preparation, compiling and submitting applications for payments.
  • Management of sub-contractors including procurement, placing orders, assessing value of works completed in period, payments and final accounting.
  • Procure supply-chain orders in a timely manner that accurately reflect the scope works and administer same, accurately valuing, certifying and issuing relevant payment notices.
  • Accurately re-measure works in accordance with the method of measurement and in a timely manner whilst maximising our entitlement.
  • Assisting site team in completing site records, notices and diaries.
  • General assistance to Managing/Senior Quantity Surveyor for other various commercial duties.
  • Complete monthly CVR reports, ensuring they accurately reflect the current position on site and the final profit projection.
  • Strict adherence to all Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and reporting of any incident/accident of any nature to the Site Manager.
