Hermitage Quarry – an inert landfill facility and the final destination for recyclable hardcore in Kent
Recycled aggregates are produced from a variety of waste products: construction and demolition materials (concrete, bricks, tiles), asphalt and tarmacadam spoil and utility arisings. Our Hermitage Quarry recycles hardcore materials from 21 recycling centres across Kent.
From Hermitage Quarry we also operate an inert landfill site providing our customers with a totally 360° approach to materials supply, recycle and waste management for their projects.
A 360° approach to material supply and waste management
This sustainable process of borrowing land, removing and storing soils, quarrying the underlying ragstone and then returning it to restored land of an improved quality represents a full cycle in land use. The benefits of this process are evidenced at Ryarsh in West Malling, where Gallagher has operated a landfill site to infill the large void that was left by a local brick company after many years of sand extraction. The land has been transferred back to agricultural use.
