Gallagher is one of Kent's leading suppliers of recycled products. It operates a modern recycling facility, covered by a Waste Management Licence, at its Hermitage Quarry near to Junction 5 of the M20. We have made substantial investment in our machinery in recent years, enabling us to recycle more waste, more efficiently - and thus reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill.
Recycled aggregates are produced from a variety of waste products: from construction and demolition materials (concrete, bricks, tiles), asphalt and tarmacadam spoil, and utility arisings. The recycling facility covers these three product streams and has the capability to also produce top quality washed recycled aggregates. A strict policy of inspection, testing and segregation ensures that product quality is maintained throughout the production of recycled aggregates.
All of the recycled aggregates supplied by Gallagher conform to the Waste Resource Action Programme (WRAP).
The demand for aggregates from recycled and secondary sources has doubled over the last 20 years and now accounts for around 25% of aggregate consumption. Many public projects require a set percentage of recycled material to be used. Recent construction projects where Gallagher has supplied recycled aggregates include the Sittingbourne Northern Relief Road, East Kent Access Road, M20 Junction 9 upgrade, Newline Learning Academy in Maidstone, Strood Academy in Rochester and Falconwood Academy in South East London.
