Sweet Projects Limited engaged us to provide assistance with enabling works for three new data centre buildings, plus associated energy centres and infrastructure, in Hayes near Heathrow. This was our first project for this client: it proved extremely challenging but provided a perfect showcase of our capabilities.
The volume and extent of new services required to feed the datacentres meant we had to undertake extensive investigation works to determine the locations and sizes of existing stakeholder assets, and asses their potential impact on the development.
During these investigations, we identified numerous remnants of foundations from a former British Airways building and gas turbine power station on the site. As a result, our initial enabling works package evolved exponentially. We had to remove around 10,000m3 of obstructions and undertake extensive ground water management to facilitate the works, which involved constructing 25,000m2 of pile mat for the new development.
