A new 69-bed care home is the latest addition to our long-established Eclipse Park site, at Junction 7 of the M20 near Maidstone. Gallagher Property enabled the site, which was sold to operator Porthaven when it achieved planning permission.
The new care home, which Porthaven has designed and is delivering itself, is set in fully accessible landscaped grounds and has 23 ensuite bedrooms on each of its three floors. Facilities for residents include a communal lounge, hair salon, private dining room, library and cinema. A new car park to the south-west of the site provides spaces for 30 vehicles, plus storage for bicycles. Ragstone accents feature in the superstructure and external landscaping, complimenting its use throughout Eclipse Park, and the wider Maidstone vernacular.

The occupied areas of Eclipse Park now extends to around eight acres, with a further three acres enabled and awaiting development.
“We’ve been working at Eclipse Park for 15 years and it’s evolved a lot in that time,” says Joe Heathfield. “The first two phases were conventional offices; we’ve since added a Next and the flagship Marks & Spencer store that opened in the summer of 2021. With the addition of the care home, it’s a great exemplar of a new kind of truly mixed-use development, with commercial, retail and care facilities on site, and residential development on the adjoining land. We’ve now got two potential schemes in the offing for the remaining three acres; we’re excited about the next phase and seeing the whole Eclipse Park project completed.“
We also provided landfill through our muckaway service and materials for the project including aggregates, concrete and Kentish Ragstone for the external and boundary walls.
