Lipscomb is a privately-owned new and used car dealer based in Aylesford, Kent. The company specialises in Volvo and the Fiat Chrysler range that includes Fiat, Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Jeep and Fiat Professional Vans.
The company contracted us to design and build its new showroom and servicing workshops on a site previously occupied by an existing commercial building. Our development company, Gallagher Properties, managed the land sale; as principal contractor, we then undertook the entire design and construction process.
The design phase involved intensive discussions with the client to provide certainty on quality standards, programming and budgets. On-site operations began with demolition, fencing and refurbishment of the existing building to create a short-term showroom. Our civil engineering team formed the foundations, and completed external works up to base course to provide a clean site, with extensive laydown areas for the steel frame erectors and following trades. All aggregates and ready-mix concrete were supplied by Gallagher Aggregates; surplus spoil was removed to one of our registered landfill sites.
The modern, clean and crisp design was complemented by a high standard of finish and remains one of our favourite developments to this day.
