Tesla has opened a new supercharger at Eclipse Park, at Junction 7 of the M20 in Maidstone. It joins Tesla’s existing network of superchargers in the UK. As the last charging point in the UK for people travelling to mainland Europe, this strategic location connects Tesla electric car owners with continental Europe and Southern England.
Gallagher Ltd constructed the six supercharging bays on behalf of Gallagher Properties Ltd, the owner of Eclipse Park. The work was done in six weeks and included linking the supercharger to 500 kva of power from the adjacent substation. A path from the supercharger to the nearby Hilton Hotel was also constructed to enable users of the supercharger to easily visit the hotel for refreshments whilst their cars are charging.
Maidstone Borough Council processed the planning application in a timely fashion, completing the planning process in just six weeks to meet Tesla’s timetable.
Tesla is a leading manufacturing of electric cars, and allows its customers to charge their cars for free. The supercharger enables drivers to charge their electric cars for a 200 mile range in just 30 minutes.
