Gallagher undertook a combined enabling and groundworks contract for a major retail and leisure development in Dover, Kent.
The 157,000 sq ft development comprises of a new hotel (Travelodge), cinema (Cineworld), restaurant and retail units, with Next and Marks & Spencer being anchor tenants for the retail element.
We were initially appointed to carrying out S278 and sewer diversion works and whilst on site we were able to assist the client with the completion of enabling works to allow piling to proceed, working closely with geotechnical and environmental engineers.
We negotiated the groundworks package directly with the developer Bond City and was appointed as a package trade contractor.
We completed groundworks and external works for RG Group.
All buildings were piled and our substructure work included the construction of pile caps, ground beams and in-situ ground floor slab with an integral gas membrane. We constructed a reinforced concrete frame to the first and second floors of the hotel. Our package included services, drainage, hard landscaping, Highways England S278 works on the A20 and road improvement works for KCC Highways.
Muck away was sent to Gallagher Aggregates Ltd’s Hermitage Quarry for recycling.
