Following the successful delivery of the Scania Maidstone Depot at Brooklyn Park in Maidstone, the Gallagher Group was retained by Scania UK to design and deliver its next flagship scheme near Gatwick Airport.

During 2015 Gallagher Ltd constructed a modern commercial vehicles facility for Scania on a site near to J6 of the M20 owned by Gallagher Properties Ltd. This depot, which become operational in December 2015, comprises 6 bays for the servicing and repair of heavy goods vehicles, offices, meeting rooms and welfare facilities.

Scania was so pleased with the quality of its new Depot that it asked Gallagher Properties to find a suitable site near to Gatwick Airport for another state of the art depot. Gallagher Properties subsequently found a suitable site in Pease Pottage, acquired it and successfully gained planning permission.

This latest Scania depot is housed on a three-acre greenfield site just off junction 11 of the M23 motorway south of Crawley, West Sussex and adjacent to the Pease Pottage Service area. It was constructed in accordance with a global template created by Scania to serve operators’ needs well into the 21st century.  As such, Scania Gatwick is providing an extensive range of services and is set to become a focal point for transport companies operating within the region.

The new 20,000 sq ft depot is very similar in layout to the Maidstone Depot, but Gallagher was also challenged to include service facilities for gas powered vehicles requiring full DSEAR & ATEX compliance.
