Park Farm link roads, Ashford

Gallagher was appointed by Taylor Wimpey to construct 900m of link roads between two sites in Ashford.

The site is in an area which has a history of flooding and as a result the new road had to be constructed on an embankment.  This required a large import of suitable material which will be supplied by Hermitage Quarry.

There were 4 locations along the new road where the existing drainage ditches had to be crossed which was achieved using RCC pipework and culvert sections. The presence of water voles meant the culvert crossings could only be constructed during the appropriate ecological window. The site was also subject to further ecological restrictions.

We were appointed to undertake the following:

  • Earthworks including bulk fill
  • Temporary works including temp bailey bridges
  • Drainage including swales
  • Road construction including kerbing and tarmacadam
  • Street lighting and road signage
  • Culvert crossings and associated head walls (including fencing)
  • Road markings and safety barriers
  • Principal Contractor responsibilities

All concrete, aggregates and Gallapave HBM CBGM “B” were provided by Gallagher Aggregates Ltd.
