The Maidstone Borough Council depot is situated on a three-acre site at Parkwood, south of Maidstone. This was awarded to Gallagher as Principal Contractor on a lump sum basis under a design and build contract.

In addition to providing the modern office and administration building the project included new vehicle workshops and large areas of covered storage. Externally there are areas of external car parking and extensive concrete hard standing sufficient for all of Maidstone Borough Councils refuse freighters and street cleansing vehicles. All rainwater to the roof of the building is collected via a large underground rainwater harvesting tank and utilised for vehicle wash down.

This is another contract where the full range of Gallagher’s operations have come together for the benefit of the project. Our development experience has helped with the planning and design process, in house civil engineering operations mean good design and efficiently executed ground works to complement the design and build skills, with Gallagher aggregates, ready mix concrete and landfill that complete the story.

The site received a commendation from the Considerate Constructors scheme and achieved a Very Good BREEAM rating.
