Construction is underway at London Gateway for DP World, the UK’s newest deep-sea container port, which will also be combined with Europe’s largest logistics park. Situated 25 miles east of central London on the north bank of the River Thames in Stanford-Le-Hope, Essex, London Gateway will provide unrivalled deep-sea shipping access.

Gallagher Aggregates supplied Dredging International with 50,000t of Filter Rock for the revetment works for this new deep-sea container terminal.

In addition, Gallagher worked on the construction of the new port & park administration building for DP World on behalf of ISG Jackson. Gallagher’s scope of works comprised the earthworks and reinforced concrete substructures for the new three storey office administration block. It also included the external service yard, drainage and external works.

This element of the project was completed in May 2013. Gallagher reduced its on-site duration to two visits from the planned three, and its time on site from 30 weeks to 23 weeks.

This part of the development is part of the overall £1.8 billion investment programme which is envisaged to last for approximately 15 years.
