Gallagher undertook the substructure and civils package for a new data centre development in Harlow.

JCA Engineering was commissioned to provide four new data centres in 4 phases in Harlow which will provide "cloud" storage for data, a facility which is now in everyday use by individuals and businesses alike. Gallagher secured phase 1.

Gallagher first expressed an interest in this project in June 2015 and helped JCA Engineering with budgeting and programme assistance prior to the contract award.

The works comprised site clearance and new infrastructure (roads, drainage and services) to allow the first data centre to be constructed. Our scope also included reinforced concrete pile caps and ground beams, S278 works, drainage, services and external works to the first data centre building.

The scheme comprised of over 2900m of service trenching for HV and data cables, along with RC structures to contain service ducts below the building foot print.

Gallagher undertook the placement and power float finishing of over 5800m2 of concrete floor to the upper floors that house the data halls.

Working in conjunction with JCA, Gallagher delivered a project on programme and built a good working relationship with a new client.

Following the successful completion of phase 1 of the data centre, we are now JCA Engineering’s preferred groundworks contractor.
