Gallagher was Principal Contractor on a design and build basis for a new Gypsum recycling facility in Kemsley. In order to meet the demand for recycled gypsum from Knauf, Countrystyle Recycling required a new process building which is dedicated to recycling plasterboard.
The building is purpose made and is segregated into several process areas which are separated by substantial Reinforced Concrete Push Wall Structures. Due to the ground conditions of the site, both the foundations and building slab are on precast piles, utilising flared heads where necessary. The Steel Portal Frame spans over 44m. The 914 x 305 Steel Columns sit outside of the push walls meaning that the walls need to be constructed prior to the erection of the frame.
Concrete, aggregate and Gallapave HBM were supplied by Gallagher Aggregates Ltd.
We were invited to tender for the complete works as Principal Contractor on a design and build basis and following a competitive tender process and with an ambitious programme, Countrystyle decided that Gallagher was the company to deliver the scheme.
