Gallagher Ltd carried out and completed the bulk excavation works, substructures, superstructures and externals for Cygnet Hospital, a new mental health unit on the KIMS hospital site, for Metnor Construction.
The new hospital has concrete pad foundations with an internal reinforced concrete wall 3m high acting as a retaining structure to the first floor structure. Ground floor slabs are in-situ concrete with upper floors being of composite metal deck and concrete construction.
Externally, there is a significant amount of gabion basket retaining walls to the perimeter of the site, with the fill to the gabions specified as Kentish Ragstone from our own quarry.
There are Kentish Ragstone feature walls, with the stone supplied by our Masonry Department at Hermitage Quarry, to ensure the building is in keeping with Kent’s historic architecture.
Aggregate and ready mix concrete were supplied by Hermitage Quarry. The earthworks deposition material was sent to the quarry for recycling.
Metnor Construction is a new client, and we were able to ensure that our tender was competitive by working closely with the concrete and aggregates parts of the Gallagher Group.
