Assistant Buyer / Buyer

The Assistant Buyer / Buyer role (dependant on experience) will support the full range of requirements for Gallagher Aggregates to ensure that the teams have all the materials and parts they require, on time and at the right price.

This is a new and exciting role, based at Hermitage Quarry, will provide the successful candidate the opportunity to shape and grow their career within the business. In this role you will be required work alongside our experienced Group procurement team based at HQ.

Main Duties will include:

  • Keeping detailed records and maintaining a well‐organised order schedule.
  • Comparing quotes to identify best supplier for each purchase.
  • Identifying potential suppliers and new products.
  • Contacting a range of suppliers and sub‐contractors to obtain quotations and agree delivery times.
  • Assessing the reliability and credentials of the suppliers.
  • Dealing effectively with challenges with suppliers.
  • Ensuring compliance with the safety, health and environment requirements of materials.
  • Negotiating and agreeing the most favourable terms possible with suppliers.
  • Initially working closely with Group procurement team to aid progression and ensure consistency of quality and cost across the business.

Hours of work:

  • 07.30 - 18.00 Mon-Fri.
