We had a fantastic day at our first ever Gallagher Careers Open Day!
Over 250 students from local schools and 100 other visitors, visited Hermitage Quarry to see the site, meet our staff, learn about the construction industry and take part in lots of fun activities. From tree planting and building bug hotels, to machine simulators and apprenticeship advice – there was something for everyone, and it was great to see such a wide range of ages attend the day.
Thank you to our Gallagher staff who took part in showcasing the different job roles we have within the business by explaining to the children the typical tasks and skills involved. This was very inspiring for them to hear and got them thinking about possible future careers in construction.
Tracey Crouch MP made a guest appearance with Pat Gallagher and Sean Connor in helping us launch our ‘Powering Up to Bring Carbon Down’ campaign as part of our journey to be Net Zero by 2050.
Thank you also to:
- Costain for providing the simulator and helping with the tree planting and bug hotels
- Flannery for providing the Tenstar simulator
- Mid Kent College, Heart of Kent Hospice and Construction Youth Trust for supporting the event
- Steph’s Ices for providing delicious hot dogs and ice creams
“I wanted to write to thank you for today. We had the most wonderful time and the boys truly enjoyed the entire experience, (especially constructing the bug hotel). It was fantastic to meet you all and and I wanted to tell you how impressed we all were. A superbly organised event, with lots or fun and exciting experiences to get involved with. The hot dogs were,”the best they ever had” I was told… and the ice cream van a total winner. The site was spectacularly clean and the Gallagher team… helpful, friendly and most informative. A superb day, thank you for making this happen. I have told the school how outstanding the day was.“
A lovely message from a parent who attended the day
