An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Buyer to work with our organisation. You will have a vast range of commercial skills including, supplier management, negotiation, customer service, relationship management, project management skills and commercial awareness. You will require at least 3 years Procurement experience.

You would be involved with both the Aggregates and Contracting businesses to ensure that the teams have all the materials and parts they require, at the right time and in the right place, at the right price.

Qualities and Capabilities Required:

  • To believe in and uphold our company values.
  • Competent in MS Office and in using costing system, such as Coins.
  • Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Friendly with good interpersonal skills, able to work as part of the wider Gallagher team.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Keeping detailed records and maintaining a well-organised order schedule.
  • Comparing quotes to identify best supplier for each purchase.
  • Identifying potential suppliers and new products.
  • Identifying and proposing Value Engineering Solutions.
  • Providing prices for all materials included in project plans and drawings.
  • Contacting a range of suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations and agree delivery times.
  • Assessing the reliability and credentials of the suppliers.
  • Dealing effectively with challenges with suppliers and flow of materials.
  • Ensuring compliance with the safety, health, and environmental requirements of materials.
  • Negotiating and agreeing the most favourable terms possible with suppliers.
  • Liaising closely with the Estimator at the tendering stage to ensure that an accurate project cost is provided.
  • Initially working closely with Group procurement team to aid progression and ensure consistency of quality and cost across the business.
  • Preparing and maintaining cost reports in order to maximise efficiency within the business.
