Gallagher Ltd has cast the reinforced concrete base slab for a new subway that forms part of the new £26 million redevelopment of Rochester station in Kent. This part of the project has been completed ahead of schedule.
Gallagher has undertaken these specialist reinforced concrete works and the concrete pour using its own workforce, and with concrete supplied from Gallagher’s own Hermitage Quarry in Barming. Gallagher is working on behalf of C Spencer. The subway is being built off-line, and then will be jacked into position under the railway line in April by a specialist jacking company.
Works on constructing 250 linear metres of new reinforced concrete retaining walls of varying heights, up to 4.5 metres at the base of the embankment; (parallel to the proposed down loop track) will commence at the end of January. These works will be completed at the end of April this year.
