Hermitage Quarry has recently welcome members of The Medway Fossil and Mineral Society, who visited the quarry to look for fossils.
They spent a few happy hours hammering their way through the Kentish Ragstone, and found fossils that included nautiloids, ammonites, bivalves, wood and worm tubes.
The Medway Lapidary and Mineral Society was formed in 1975, becoming The Medway Fossil and Mineral Society in 2004. It caters for people interested in fossils, minerals and geology, regularly put on displays in Kempton Park, Canterbury, Maidstone and other local events. Its members go on frequent field trips across the whole country.
