Gallagher has helped Maidstone Rotary Club play its part in an ambitious project to plant more than two million trees worldwide while at the same time donating funds to the Heart of Kent Hospice.
Maidstone Rotarians taking part in Rotary International’s bid to plant 2.3 million trees around the globe, one for each member, asked Gallagher whether the company could find a home for 100 trees in woodland it owns and manages around Hermitage Quarry in Barming.
The local club raised £250 for the project, but Gallagher bought the trees and donated the cash to the Heart of Kent Hospice.
The trees have been planted close to a bridle path in the woods, with a plaque commemorating the venture unveiled by Maidstone Rotarians Cllr Martin Cox, Cllr Bryan Vizzard and Caroline and Alan Newman.
Nick Yandle of Gallagher Group said: “It was a pleasure to help with such a worthy initiative from Rotarians and great that the Heart of Kent Hospice fund raising initiative was also able to benefit.”
