Consultation on proposed care village in Leeds

Specialist care village operator, English Villages, is preparing to submit a planning application for a care village in Leeds, near Maidstone, Kent. The care village will comprise a 36-bed care home and 99 close care and assisted living apartments together with extensive communal facilities, including a wellness centre, at Ledian Farm, Leeds.

The care village will also form an important community facility, providing a range of 'day care' options for older people and will include a shop, restaurant, cafe, library and craft room. There will also be a meeting room for local clubs and societies. The wellness centre will include a treatment room for GPs, and facilities for relaxation, physiotherapy, and rehabilitation.

The Ledian Farm site, which is owned by the Gallagher Group, is currently an unattractive industrial estate that is incompatible with the adjourning conservation area and Leeds' historic buildings.

English Villages will be holding a public exhibition and consultation in Leeds Village Hall on Friday 5th October from 2.30pm until 7pm. This event will give local residents an opportunity to view the plans, complete a questionnaire and put any queries or concerns to the development team involved. Information will also be available on the care that will be offered by the care village and the 100 plus jobs that will be created to support the village.
