Gallagher help to manage a farm totalling 560 acres around Hermitage Quarry. Under the control of Geoff Pearson, the farm is a combination of grazing for cattle and woodland with a well equipped complex of farm buildings and yard. Some of the grazing land was formerly quarry and has been restored with inert material to a very high standard with new hedgerows and fencing. The beef herd comprises over 100 cattle incliding Belgian Blues and Limousins and there is an active and successful breeding programme. Large areas of the estate are open to the public and footpaths, tracks and benches have been created for the benefit of walkers, cyclists and horse riders from the local community.

Equine

Horse racing is the principle form of promotion of the Gallagher Group. As with everything we do, it is organised professionally with considerable investment in people and facilities. There are 12 race horses in training, most under the control of our trainer, Murty McGrath and his team. Facilities include extensive stables, exercise equipment and a six furlong all-weather gallop.
