Recycled Materials

Within the Hermitage Quarry we have substantial modern recycling facilities which are split into two parts, recycled construction masonry and recycled macadam.

The Aggregates Levy on primary won aggregate was aimed to encourage greater use of recycled materials throughout the construction industry. Gallaghers embraced this new challenge and has established a major recycling facility at Hermitage Quarry. Processed demolition arisings produce technically-compliant 6F1and 6F2 capping layer materials for use in specific applications. Crushed concrete hardcore is also processed and screened to meet specific customer demands.
