Landfill
We operate two landfill sites at Ryarsh and Hermitage Quarry, both operating in accordance with the stringent measures set out in the Pollution Prevention Control (PPC) Permitting Regulations.
The operations are well managed and closly controlled.
At Ryarsh imported inert waste material is used to infill the void to return the land back to original contours for agricultural use. At Hermitage Quarry progressive restoration of the void generated by quarrying is achieved through land filling utilising imported inert waste materials. This sustainable process of borrowing agricultural land, quarrying the underlying ragstone and then returning it to restored agricultural land of an equal quality represents a full cycle in land use.
At Ryarsh, imported inert waste material infills the void from quarrying to return the area back to its original contours and is now active agricultural land.
