It's our 20th anniversary...

Gallagher Aggregates are proud to celebrate 20 years of quarrying at Hermitage Quarry.

Hermitage Quarry sits discretely in the middle of the 600 acre Hermitage Estate owned by the Gallagher family. 2010 heralds the 20th anniversary of quarrying at Hermitage, extracting Kentish Ragstone and supplying high quality aggregate and stone to maintain the traditions and history of Kent.

“To extract the stone for construction needs, landfill with inert waste material and then restore the land to a better, enriched condition for agriculture, hedgerows and woodland”... that was the vision the Gallagher family had of what a Ragstone quarry could be. 20 years on, and working closely with the Kent Wildlife Trust and local groups and associations, their vision became reality.

The Hermitage Estate is a working farm comprising a beef herd of almost 300 cattle including Belgian Blues and Limousins and there is an active and successful breeding programme.

The Gallagher family has made large areas of the estate available to the public; footpaths, tracks and benches have been created for the benefit of walkers, cyclists and horse riders from the local community.
