Towergate HQ Building, Eclipse Park, Maidstone
Representing the next phase of Gallagher Properties’ prestigious Eclipse
Park development in Maidstone, this HQ office complex for occupation by
Towergate, Europe’s largest independently owned insurance intermediary
was completed in October 2008.
Gallagher Contractors were appointed Principal Contractor and the works
were carried out under a full design & build contract. Work commenced on
this 38,000 sq ft building in September 2007 with handover of the first areas
to the fit out team achieved 6 weeks early.
This construction project was the epitomy of the Gallagher business model.
It starts with a Gallagher Properties development and is followed with a
main contract for Gallagher Contractors where Gallagher resources then
also directly supply in-house labour, plant and material to complete all
ground works, substructures and concrete frame using Gallagher ready
mixed concrete.
Gallagher and their design team fully recognise the need to embrace the
green agenda and in working towards a ‘Very Good’ BREEAM rating
incorporated a number of advanced technological aspects within the
building to ensure a sustainable level of comfort for the end user whilst
minimising the overall environmental impact of the building. This has been
achieved by ensuring the aspect of the building allows the optimum level
of natural daylight whilst avoiding excessive heat gain, the inclusion of
rainwater harvesting for grey water flushing along with spray water taps, low
energy lighting linked to PIR sensors and sub metering to all areas.
