Clipper Park, Tilbury
Gallagher Contractors were employed as Principal Contractor under a
design and build contract by Equity Estates. The project involved the
construction of five separate blocks of industrial warehouse units providing
25 warehouse units totalling 77,000 sq ft.
The site was located on very poor alluvial grounds within the tidal zone of
the River Thames and required extensive ground solutions including piling
and innovative soil stabilisation techniques. Extensive surface water
attenuation measures were also required.
The Gallagher team included Cornish Architects and Paul Owen Associates
(Civil and Structural Engineering Consultant), both firms with whom
Gallagher have carried out several design & build contracts.
Gallagher’s in-house civil engineering resources meant that a quick start was
possible and that the site works progressed at speed and to a high standard
– not an easy task with such poor ground conditions.
