Temple School Academy, Strood
Three new academies are being built in Kent with BAM as the main contractor; Temple School Academy in Strood, Bishop of Rochester Academy in Chatham and Brompton Academy in Brompton. Temple School Academy is the first of the developments.
Gallagher’s involvement in the construction of Temple School Academy in Strood is in two phases.
Firstly, it is doing the groundworks for the school, which consist of:
- pad foundations and laying a concrete slab for the building
- surface water drainage, which will drain into soakaways
- foul water drainage, which is connected into the existing public system
- substantial external works.
Once the groundworks are completed, Gallagher will leave the site while the new school is being built. On completion of the first phase construction, the staff and pupils will take up residence to enable the demolition of the existing school, after which Gallagher will return to site to complete external works and construct new sports pitches and playgrounds.
