Stanley Park School, Sutton
A new secondary school and residential units have been built on the site of the former Queen Mary Hospital on Fountain Drive in Carshalton.
Gallagher was contracted by principal contractor BAM to:
- install the ground floor slab, the associated drainage, services installations and hard paving works including areas of permeable paving of various types, concrete slab and block paving and tarmac and gravel finishes.
- undertake substantial remodelling of existing ground levels by earth movement, cut and fill and re-profiling.
- supply and install bespoke hard landscaping structures of powder coated steel members, large timber and precast concrete sections along with the addition of feature elements such as large glacial stone boulders, bespoke timber boulders hand cut from heart oak, timber sleeper walls and dry stone retaining walls.
The new school was completed on schedule in November 2011. Limited works continued on site past this date to complete the highways works and installation cricket nets and associated landscape works following limited demolition works of existing buildings.
The relationships, management ability and professionalism shown by the team throughout the course of the project have assisted in proving Gallagher’s ability to complete further projects within the same sector for BAM. This led to BAM awarding Gallagher the contract for works at the new Strood Academy.
