Loxford School of Science and Technology

Loxford School of Science and Technology is a new comprehensive secondary school in Ilford, Essex which has been constructed in the footprint of the old school’s playing fields. On completion of the new school, the existing school was demolished, and the new playing fields and MUGA pitches were be constructed in its place.

Gallagher’s involvement in the construction of Loxford School of Science and Technology was in two phases, namely:

Phase 1 - this saw Gallagher complete the drainage and substructure works, then follow on with a complex, high quality external works package around the building and to the main entrance.

Phase 2 - Gallagher returned to site once the existing school had been demolished to undertake an extensive remediation package, involving a 30,000/m3 cut and fill exercise and disposal of asbestos contaminated material to a fully licenced facility. This was followed by the externals works package, which consisted of more complex paving and tarmac, services and construction of the MUGA pitches and car parks.
