Frimley Trade City

Kier Properties employed Gallagher Limited as Principal Contractor to construct 9 Industrial Units in 4 blocks, providing a total of 4,300m2 of ground floor area and a further 900 m2 of upper mezzanine area. The units are steel portal framed construction with composite external cladding.

The units form part of Kier’s Trade City Brand currently being developed in a number of locations across the country.

The works commenced on site in August 2014 with preliminary works ahead of demolition of the existing building on site. The project was completed on schedule in June 2015 following the erection of the buildings and completion of the external works and drainage scheme on site.

The concrete slabs from the building and external areas which covered the site were crushed on site and reused in the works.

The external parking areas and pedestrian paving are a mix of Permeable concrete block paving, concrete surface yard, block paved paths and tarmacked roads and footpaths.

The site is adjacent to an existing culverted water course. The works saw the stream re-landscaped with the removal of the concrete walls and piling which enclose the stream, followed by grading of the banks to smooth batters, installation of a new stream bed, and laying out a new planting scheme to manage increased water flows when necessary. The adjacent wooded area was coppiced and cleared and an existing pond was opened up to bring into the scheme.
