Dartford Greenheart, Central Park, Dartford

Gallagher were appointed as principal contractor for this project that covered a large area in Central Park, Dartford. The work included pathways, earthwork re-modelling, hard and soft landscaping, planting of trees and shrubs, the installation of 2 bridges, street furniture and a new bandstand.

The bandstand was constructed using ragstone from Gallagher’s quarry in Maidstone. Sawn 6 side blocks with a chiselled face were used for the walling. Reconstituted paving slabs were produced using crushed ragstone aggregate, also from the Gallagher quarry. This work had to be carefully engineered to precise details and laid by experienced stonemasons.

Gallagher also supplied aggregate and ready mix concrete to the project.

The work had to be very carefully managed as the park remained open to the public throughout the project.

The project was successfully completed and this was recognised by winning the annual Community Engineering Award, judged by the ICE.
