Byway MR496, between the water tower at Barming and the underpass above Sweets Lane (near Potts) on the Hermitage Estate in Barming, has been reopened following its temporary closure and diversion. The closure was put in place to enable the construction of the cut and cover tunnel to provide access to the new westerly extension of Hermitage Quarry.

The byway has been reinstated to its original condition, using transplanted coppice stools (see picture four above).

Gallagher would like to thank people for their patience while the diversion was in place.
