Silage has been harvested at Ryarsh near West Malling, on the site of a former inert landfill site that has been reinstated to productive farmland.

Gallagher Aggregates Ltd operated the inert landfill site following many years of sand extraction by a local brick company, resulting in a large void that remained once they had completed sand extraction. The site was infilled with inert waste from 2002 and in July 2011, the infill was complete, with the land being returned to its original landform. Since then it has been used for agriculture.
