Gallagher has started work on the construction of a new retail park in Sydenham in London on behalf of Kier. The retail park will provide approximately 137,000 sq ft of retail space within 10 units of varying floor areas.

Gallagher’s contract includes groundworks, drainage, external works and the redevelopment of the highways and footpaths surrounding the site including road widening, the introduction of new highways signals, lighting and the resurfacing of existing roads and footpaths.

The buildings will be steel framed and clad construction over a reinforced ground floor slab, supported by piled concrete foundations, pile caps and ground beams.

Following remediation, work on the site has commenced. All excavated materials are to remain on site, reducing the vehicle movements to and from site and the impact on the surrounding area. The excavated materials will be used to raise the levels of the adjacent site designated for further development at a later date.
