New sports centre bowls over school
Rainham Mark Grammar school's new sports hall, which was constructed by Gallagher as Principal Contractor, has been officially opened by Chris Cowdrey, the former England and Kent cricketer.
The new sports hall includes 3 badminton courts, cricket nets, a 5-a-side football pitch, gymnasium, fitness suite and dance studio, as well as changing accommodation, two classrooms and staff offices.
Nick Yandle, Gallagher Group Chief Executive, said: “After 30 weeks on site it was great for everybody concerned to hand over a fantastic new facility that will meet the needs of the pupils and local residents for many years to come. As a local company we are delighted to have built this for everyone at Rainham Mark. The project provided employment for many local people and we were able to supply the aggregates and concrete from our quarry at Hermitage Lane. The school’s budget was constrained and so everyone had to work together to ensure there were no unplanned costs. ”
