Lyndsey Gallagher launches campaign to raise £25,000 in 25 days!
Lyndsey Gallagher is gearing up for the 2012 Virgin London Marathon.
Lyndsey, who works for the Gallagher Group, has set herself the target of raising £25,000 in 25 days for The Lighthouse Club, the charity supporting injured and ill construction workers.
“When I told my friends and colleagues that I’d re-entered I’m sure they thought I was joking as I’m more used to marathon shopping than marathon running. However, the training is going well and I’m getting a huge amount of support from the team at Gallagher and my family,” she said.
With just 5 weeks to go, the 35-year-old said her training had been hampered by bad weather.
“I have found it hard going,” she said. “I am now running about seven miles every other day but I should be doing more than that by now. The weather has not helped but I have to admit that my body’s just not built for running!”
Having completed the London Marathon three years ago Lyndsey knows what to expect on the big day.
She said: “I actually enjoyed running the marathon in 2009 and remember it being quite fun. But I’m now three years older and so I’m not sure it’ll be the same this time around. I’m determined to reach my £25,000 target for The Lighthouse Club, the construction industry charity that Gallagher supports throughout the year.”
