Maidstone Borough Council Depot Now Open

TV presenter and environmental expert, Dick Strawbridge, joined Gallagher Group Chairman, Pat Gallagher, and the Mayor of Maidstone, Peter Parvin, to officially open Maidstone Borough Council’s new depot at Park Wood, Maidstone.

Pat Gallagher said: “Gallagher is particularly pleased to have been able to help deliver a project that Maidstone can be proud of. It was delivered by the local people we employ and the extensive hard standings and foundations are constructed from fill materials and concrete from our own local quarry and ready mix plant, Hermitage Quarry. It was a true design and build with considerable time taken to finalise design details before a spade was put into the ground. This is key to a project finishing on time, on budget and to a very good standard of workmanship.”

Cabinet Member for Regeneration Cllr Malcolm Greer, added: “The new depot is much more sustainable than the council’s old depot at Armstrong Road, the quality of the construction process along with a range of environmental factors such as solar panels, rainwater harvesting and water saving devices was also recognised by the external BREEAM assessor.”
